Just to give you an idea of how many children’s toys have been recalled due to lead poisoning hazards and/or violations of lead safety standards, we have compiled a list based on all of the recalls announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) so far this year. Note: It may not be 100% complete at any given time since new recalls are coming out every day (sometimes it seems like every hour). Toys are recalled for a variety of reasons, often for design flaws that pose strangulation hazards, loose parts that pose choking hazards, poorly written instructions (as was the case in a recent Crib Recall), and more than a few involving toys with small magnets recalled for the risk of being swallowed and sticking together inside a child’s intestines. Therefore, although the list below only includes those children’s toy recalls involving lead, parents are advised to read ALL recalls announced by the CPSC, and to subscribe to our Consumer Product Recall Feed or Newsletter. We will endeavor to keep you up to date on the toys that should be avoided this Christmas season and beyond. Be aware when you give gifts so you don’t end up doing more harm than good this holiday season.

967,000 Fisher Price Toy Recalls (The first to hit mainstream press)
Thomas The Train Engine and Friends Recall (Over 1.5 million. This is when people really began to take notice and press for action from the CPSC and other institutions).
Toy Recalls from 2006 (This isn’t the first year we’ve had a rash of recalled toys from China. It’s about time major news outlets began to take notice. US Recall News has been on top of this story for a long time, as evidenced by this November, 2006 blog entry.)
Is anything not made in China now a days. Seems that firms are in such a rush to pad their profit that they’ve overlooked the safety of children until now…I do wonder what has passed before un-noticed in previous years into the hands of our children…
Ever think about the poor worker who packed these toys into boxes for shipping? Someone touched each toy, fresh out of the factory, to package them for shipping. Our disregard for the human rights of the workers of China is the real story. We, the consumers, have dismantled the US’s manufacturing infrastructure in exchange for products of low quality produced by enslaved labor. Our disregard for the true cost of petroleum allows for cheap shipping of goods, yet Exxon has never paid for damages caused by the Valdez. Our disregard for labor also allows port strikes to be ended by Presidential order, rather than letting the Just-In-Time supply of these goods dry up and allowing people to see the empty shelves. Now our freedoms and standard of living is moving towards those in China and the most oppressed of consumers still cling to their love of national big box retailers and defending their need to buy at low prices?
Ufortunately it has become so expensive to manufacture goods in the US that many companies have to ship overseas to stay in business. I manage a baby furniture store and have seen 3 USA made furniture companies switch over to overseas manufacturers in the last 2 years. They had no choice because the big box manufacturers, like Walmart, sell cheap, dangerous, products and we as a society continue to buy them. We have to change as a society before we can expect our products to be of good quality. If we set a standard and example in the US then other companies will follow. It has to begin somewhere.
Silly commoners. Obey your betters. The corporate structure’s alliance with government is an integral part of the USA federal government and general political system.
Wail your sordid tales of woe and you merely help the Enemy. You are showing your true colors and are likely one of those cut-and-run unAmerican commie-like vermin who do not support the troops.
Just obey your betters.
What else could be of more importance than this quarter’s profit/loss statement?
The wealthy deserve their rewards and you mere commoners are lucky to have those of wondrous capability leading the USA into an ever-brighter future.
Just shut up and obey you underlings. Whine too much and there are millions of others ready to take your place. If they are not here now they will be crossing the border any minute or congress in all its cummulative wisdom will increase the number of H1-B visas.
Obey

please get your facts straight before you start going off the deep end. Exxon lost a civil court case in 1989 in which they paid 100 million for that and their total payment for the spill has been over 1 billion. Now I am not saying this makes up for anything other than to help clean it up but they did pay..think about it, they had to to save face and you know it.
Also, only ones I care about are my children. I cannot be held responsible for the morals and values of the heads of companies, here or in China. So while yes the workers are victims and probably do not know any better, it certainly is not the REAL story as you put it. The REAL story is the jerks running the companies and how they dont care about human lives. But me wanting toys for my children does not make me the bad person. Grow a pair and stand up for yourself and your country for crying out loud.
The only concern should be the children, I am not saying that this is the fault of poor workers from China. I am just saying that there were deaths from the result of greediness. The children should not have to suffer from the hand of big corporates trying to keep their pockets fat. Yes we all need money to survive but at what expense. Love of money is the root of all evil and anyone who think other wise is just as crazed as the companies that knew these products were not suitable but did nothing until some helpless children and babies died. This world is truely coming to an end.
Do we really think all this is just starting with lead poisoning? It’s probably been going on forever and is just now being addressed. People keep asking why so many children have ADD/ADHD and other problems. I’m sure there has to be a connection to all the unregulated poisons we are putting in our bodies everyday as well as the ones the government says are LEGAL. Really…what can you do?
TO TOY MANUFACTURERS – YOU GET WHAT YOU P-A-Y F-O-R!!!!!!
The message here should be, stop buying cheap crap from China to keep your children busy and out of your hair.
Get outside and play ball with your children.
Go on a hike or camping.
Just stop buying CHINA!!
Has anyone heard about any children’s books made in china
that have been recalled?
Thanks for this list of Chinese toy recalls! I have been looking for a place that keeps up-to-date on the recalled toys since all of this started happening. My local news station said to visit their website, but their list only has a couple dozen. You have WAY more recalled toys on this list so they must be missing out on quite a few. That, in my opinion, is irresponsible. Don’t tell parents to visit your website for a list of recalled toys and then not keep that list up-to-date, thus giving parents a false sense of security!
I agree STOP BUYING MADE IN CHINA!!!! At our house we still have toys from the 80’s and 90’s that we have had in boxes for years. I’m not buying anymore toys. BUY AMERICAN!!!!!
Since all this firms seem to care so much about money, they should be smart enough to get their products checked to make sure they are led free before letting the retailers put them on the shelf, that way they won’t loose money, once they discover this toys have led in them and have to go through so many lawsuits, and spend so much more money on this as well as hurting innocent kids.
I think that the lesson here is to buy American and to bring back the standards of American know-how and quality. Unions and fair pay and not trying to pad the company’s pockets at the expense of the very public that buy their products. I will not shop at Walmart, they are good for cheapening the quality. I will from now on look for MADE IN USA.
To the guy who said companies should be more careful to save money: It’s probably cheaper to recall a product than to test them all. That’s the sad part about it. Our whole economy is based on corporatism, but the problem is that a corporation is a headless figure. Nobody is running the show and the machine runs amok to satisfy the ever-increasing hunger of stock holders. NO accountability unless it’s government accountability, or found through the courts!
I was going to throw away all of our toys from China just to be sure…and I discovered that 92% of all our toys were made there! Is there no one that makes toys in the good ‘ol US of A?? Even companies from the US are having China make the toys. I would rather pay much more for toys than to have children in danger. Who wouldn’t??
Kirsten-Wisconsin.
I have no pitty for the workers of China… I mean really don’t you think they know exactly what they are doing! And they know how careless we are… generally speaking. And here is a question, should or shouldn’t this be considered terrorism? I mean it is an attack on the people of this country, worse yet, the children.
This isn’t the first recall due to lead in toys… do you really think it won’t happen again?
Its the companies fault.. not its workers, they just make the stuff and send it to be inspected.. BUT the toy companies are not inpecting and doing tests properly to make more money. theyre cutting corners in the inspecting area and they shouldnt be. just dont buy anything from china , like i have decided to. I do not aprove of all china man toys recalled or not!
workers in China wear gloves at all levels of all manufacturing its the law there so none of them gets poisoned . Want to see what Wal-mart who loves China by the way is doing to our country go to walmartmovie.com or check out the wal mart movie on hbo when it comes on again
Shame on Corporate American and shame on our Elected Government Officials who have allowed this situation to come to this point. Our Government allowed companies to move to foreign countries and out source to get their products and the Corporate Executives took full advantage all in the name of the DOLLAR. The U.S. public must come to realize that we must protect ourselves, expecially our children. Try and go into a Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart and buy something for a child that is not made in CHINA – Shame on the U.S. toy companies and Shame on our Politicians.
What is sad is you have already paid for the toy and now must throw it out, so the company has already got it’s money so it’s the consumer that is at a loss, you never hear about getting your money back for recalled merchandise or food they just say dispose of it so now it’s all in the landfills.
who works anymore? Because from the myriad of postings we all are byuing China! What happened to “But American and Americans work”? We have all become greedy in some regard. Who consumer shops? (greedy) Who looks for the cheapest gasoline?(greedy) Which one of you is the least among us all to attempt to put a bit more in your pocket at the expense of something or someone else? Corporate America is a easy target, but we all have a responsibility! Nothing is free, not even air…you hav to give up cardon dioxide to get oxygen…The trick is to find a balance. I would like to see a post about a resolution, not just a vent session.
Anonoymous said,
It’s a true shame that children are not being protected, you can rest assure that if my child get’s exposed I will sue everyone involved. They better get their act together for the sake of the children! I think it’s time our country makes sure this comes to a stop and not allow anyone to make or sell toys with any type of lead or poisioning. I won’t be buying toys from China or the dollar stores, that’s for sure.
you are all getting off the track…..THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS INSANITY IS FOR US TO STOP BUYING CHINESE!!!!JUST STOP BUYING CHINESE!!!START THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, EVEN IF YOUR CHILD ONLY GETS ONE OR TWO GOOD TOYS, THIS WILL BE ENOUGH TO SEND A MESSAGE TO CORPORATE AMERICA AND THE GOVERNMENT..
Please Boycott WalMart altogether!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can anyone tell me ASAP please, if the cocacola polar bear has been recalled? This item was made in China!!!!
Yes, we must stop shopping at walmart. Walmart does not care about our children. They want to make more money. I have not shopped at walmart in 4 months sometimes its hard not to just run in there and grab something but if more people would stop then they might change. Like on the day of Thanksgiving people will fog to walmart to get toys that chances are will harm the children. I will not be there this year. DONT SHOP WALMART.
who really gives a damn about those poor chinese workers, if we stop buying crap from these garbage companies and buy from America which has safety standards to prevent these crimes. its really about the future of our society, our kids. The truth is the chinese dont care about our kids safety we do and i dont think it would bother them one bit, to see our children go through this. We must continue to make this country great, ” buy American”!!!
BUY MADE IN THE USA!!! WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CARE ABOUT THE CHILDREN AND PEOPLE OF OUR COUNTRY!! CHINA COULD CARE LESS ABOUT IF THEY ARE POISONING OUR CHILDREN!
Wake up folks! We have our own lead contamination history from bygone days when the U.S. wasn’t so sophisticated as it is now. Do you actually believe this is the first time contaminated merchandise has been imported from abroad? Lead contamination is only now a “problem” because technology and beaucracy are advanced enough to find it, and the media is efficient enough to tell everybody about it in very short order. Manufacturing capacity has been seeping out of the U.S. to Asia since the end of World War II. Why? It’s the enticement of cheaper labor–always has been and always will be. It started with Japan/Taiwan and migrated elsewhere as domestic industrialization in those countries priced their labor out of the market. Everybody in the baby boomer age range will remember the cheap junk made in Japan on the shelves of virtually every store in America. Look around now. Who has been making the most reliable cars in the world for the past few decades?
Shutting down Wal-Mart isn’t the answer. It isn’t going to happen anyway. The answer is the same one that works for everything else that’s wrong in our society: Stop pointing fingers and looking for the ultimate culprit here because there isn’t one. Take personal responsibility. Educate yourself. Exercise some discipline to protect your own personal territory. If everybody does that and nothing more, this situation will turn around in a hurry.
The world would be a better place if we just stopped buying so much crap altogether–whether it be made in China, USA (if you can find such items), or Denmark.
WE SHOULD START AT THE LEAD SCOURCE! The mining site. Not a single ounce should leave to a paint mnfr or jewelry caster. All lead or lead ore shipments need to have solid documentation so a paper trail can be worked back to that mine. Any lead from a mine found to be used in AMERICAN products should be a manditory closure of the suppling facility.
This problem has a deeper root than just China. I would like to point the finger at our politicians that passed the trade agreement with these countries. I find it amazing that we did not require a strict form of product testing as an determiner for whether they would be able to import their products. I believe that their job is still to represent the best interest of the American people. Are we to beleive that they were too stupid to require a American-driven quality assurance/testing program as an requirement to importing to American. Or even worse, is their special interests and political connections so important that they did not consider the repurcussions that he children of Ameican would have to pay. I am appaulled that our government has not put a complete and total ban on all products from China until they meet our requirements for public safety. Same on Bush and all of the politicians that have yet to hold China responsible for this.
Dear, my oh my! It’s the holiday season and I can’t buy toys for the children in my family. Why because our country is too over whelmed with the need for toys quickly at this time of year. So they by pass some codes and “forget” to test for some things…what’s the big deal right? The big deal is..these kids are our future and they’re messing around like nothing wrong and all will be fine. Think of the irony…killing our children with things that bring them smiles and laughter. Sounds like a pretty evil plot to me.
Think about all the things we buy that on the label reads made in China. There is a lot more than just toys. I have gotten rid of all my daughter’s toys that were made in China and it was hard trying to explain to a three year old that we had to throw out her favorite toy because it could make her sick. I hated to see her cry. From now on we will read labels before buying. Buy made in the USA even if it is more work.
China has the advantage of all of the mistakes that the West has made as we have gone forward, so they shouldn’t have to re-invent the wheel and do the same stupid dangerous things. To put our precious children and grandchildren in peril because of corporate greed is unconscionable. Don’t buy anything from China, and contact your Senators and Congressman about this. They have allowed it. If this had happened in the US, the company would have been shut down in 15 minutes. Why do the rules change because things are manufactured in China? The manufacturers ought to be required to have full-time inspectors on site paid for by the companies, and the company officers be subject to imprisonment when these things are allowed to happen. The problems would quickly disappear.
People keep pointing fingers at the wrong problem. The place where all these ‘issues’ stem from is known as the corporate profit margin. And that problem goes way back. A prime example; the exploding Pinto. 7 cents per unit could have kept the car from exploding but that would have cut into the profit margin.
Corporations award contracts to the lowest bidder as a rule which doesn’t always mean the best of materials goes into the production process because the manufacturer also has their eye on the profit margin.
I say they need to make a law about lead toys-All lead toys are to be burned and you can’t sell any more. You can make alot more money if you just make it right!!!!

As a Grandmother of a two year old and a missionary working on a toys for tots drive at my local church I appreciate the recall list that has been made available to the public. Perhaps in the all manufacturers will be more careful in the materials that they use for children. The more the public knows the worse it will be for these manufacturers. Instead of buyer beware, Manufacturer beware!
As a mother, I beleive that we Americans should start sticking together to protect our kids. If we would stop buying toys that are made in China, maybe they would stop putting this poison in our kids toys that could possibly kill them. I know that people want their kids to have toys, but I belive that America needs to go back to ” American Made”.
Now we know where the spike in autism is coming from….Will the government even have the nerve to look at the lead/autism connection?
We are America for god’s sake! Why can’t we make these things in our own country, have them tested before they are sent out on shelves for our kids? We have people in our own countries that need jobs. If Chinese don’t buy toys for their children made in their country, that tells me it’s bad.
There are toxic substances in other items besides goods from China. The disturbing thing is is how long this has been going on. I have to question everything I buy? Who is liable here? The store who’s buys them? The people who make them? Both? Money is so important that poisoning people, the earth and all the creatures is irrelevant. How is it that we have to make laws and constantly update them just to have a natural freedom of clean living on a natural earth. If it hurts someone or the environment when you make it , use it or recycle it or trash it, common sense would tell us don’t do it. In all our genius we can not see the simple truth. Create to live and be healthy. Least harm. Lead is bad. But you might want to check out all the products around your house with things that start with Benzine. Benzyl, Bensoate—all petroleum derivatives that are known carcinogenic. They are in you shampoo, dish soap, hand soap, makeup, hairsrpay, perfume, etc. Wonder why your neighbors stay at home mother got Leukemia at 70? Check her cleaning products. Unbelievable poisons. All made in the USA. All legal until people realize they are paying these folks to kill us. Money Money Money.
Maybe 2008 will turn it all around. God Save us all.
I agree with the mother that is a few posts above me… why don’t we buy american made? If we get it from our home I do not think that they want to poison us like the Chinese do. I think that we should put an end to it. Just something to think about next time you’re shopping, and it’s not only in toys it’s in other stuff too… It’s very scary to think of for just me because I am not a mom yet… but if we do not take a stand it’s only going to get worse.
can anyone tell me if there has been a study on all the toys from China that come in happy meals, kids meals, etc. that are stuck in boxes and bags with our kids food?
Maybe we should all take heed of the Amish. I bet they’re not worried about Thomas toys tainted with lead or carcinogens in hairspray. There are things Americans can do to alleviate this mess from our lives. Stop trying to keep up with the neighbors and kids next door – Americans are so materialistic, it’s unreal. Like one blogger said, take your kids outside for a hike. Stop watching TV and being enticed by all the crap advertised. Grow your own vegetables if you’re worried about what’s sold in the store. Scale back instead of succumbing to “todays world of over-consumption”. Yes we want to believe toys are safe, but we have to have a little common sense, too. If it’s small enough to fit in a child’s mouth, it can be choked on. If a child is sucking on a Thomas train maybe it’s not old enough to understand what it is for, lead paint or no lead paint, and should be taken away until then. Where has everyone been all these years? Seems to be a lot of folks who haven’t paid much attention to where things have been getting made until now. The “Buy American” campaign has been around for years because of companies going to other countries for cheaper labor. Americans have not been heeding that advice, been going to Wal-Mart to get the cheapest price (I’m guilty of that but am changing my ways), and less and less are we able to find American made products.
what stores still sell lead-contaminated toys from china that have not been recalled yet?
im doing a science project on testing which is the most lead contaminated.
so yeah.
feedback please !
Okay, okay, enough of everyone pointing fingers, when we should all be looking in mirrors. All of us have bought from Wal-Mart and/or toys from China at least once in our lives. The answer isn’t pointing and blaming for the past, but being responsible for our own actions for our future. Thinking about the direct impact it has on our children’s personal and global future. No, we can’t all quit buying from Wal-Mart, (I will still buy paper goods in bulk, because I have a growing family on a tight budget), but I will stop buying their toys from China. I will start buying good quality toys, along with sending an email of the link below, to our family who also buys toys for the kids. You can too, here’s the link with a list of Made in USA products and toys, http://www.toysmadeinamerica.com .
Since the very beginning when God created heaven and earth, there has been good and evil. This dynamic will never change. We, the good people, can make better choices by educating ourselves and doing our own research and not buy products/ toys from them, the bad corporate machines. No, the corporate machines will never care about us, our children’s health, or the slave laborers. Yes, we can make a difference in our own lives. Yes, it takes time and effort, but we are all worth it and it is exactly what this country needs – to slow down and make time for the important things – our families. This is the real backbone of this country, and we are letting the corporate machine destroy it by buying their goods and buying into their lies that we need these things for our lives to be good or better. China is a communist country – THEY DON”T CARE ABOUT ANYONE!! Hello!!?
Going outside and building a fort with sticks or going camping, riding bikes, jogging, or better yet – just using our imaginations does not run this risk of lead poisoning. Using our imaginations has, unfortunately become a lost art form and I am willing to declare right now that I will start a personal mission to help this art form rise again! If we taught our kids to use their imaginations more, then we would not need to fill their time with cheap toys that require batteries and have lights and sound. They would learn to make their own sound effects and actually move the cars with their hands to make their own actions. This will also be a very important lesson to carry with them through life – being responsible for their own actions, and not just point the finger to blame someone else. This is another lesson that people have forgotten, (as this blog demonstrates) and would rather blame someone else for their mistakes / choices.
Let’s get back to the basics in life. Let’s simplify our lives down to just what we truly need, the way God intended us to be. Our families, children, spouses will all benefit. We cannot do everything for everyone, but we can do something for someone. If we all make a few changes in our own lives, together it will have a huge impact on our quality of life, and in turn, in our society.
I have helped you with a link for USA made products, and now it’s up to you to make the right choices for your family. And don’t blame me if you find a product with “made in China” parts on the list- use common sense and do your own research.
Good luck in your future choices and God bless us all !!!!
How about we pack all the recalled toys to China and have a yard sale? Oh but wait that would be terroism? That is what they did to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Terror in our lives over our children’s health! I believe it was intentional… If our future adults are knocked out then who won? WAKE UP GOVERNMENT STOP CHINA FROM ALLOYING ANY SHIPMENTs OF OUR CHILDREN’S PRODUCTS NOW!!! ALL CHILDREN’S PRODUCTS SHOULD BE MADE IN THE USA AND ONLY USA!!!!
I think that there are some comments about everything being expensive in america to manufacture??? Well, I am an American and most of us are greedy! We try to get the CHEAPEST way out for any item we buy. Well, i know people directly from china.. These POOR people work very hard and still live in poverty. Who are we helping? Bring the manufacturing back to the us. US standards, employ the us workers or better yet, all of these immigrants we supposedly have, give them a place to stay and work! And use lead free products. As a middle class citizen, i have to say i am guilty of overbuying for my child. I have stopped buying thomas toys, and other CHARACTER items as it seems they are contaminated the most. Plus I save money and my childs sanity by not overbuying. But, i would much rather pay $30 for a train than $12-20 as long as i knew it was made without lead/harmful to my child and not done in slave conditions. There is not much made here anymore and we are almost forced to support the chinese slave labor habits. You think we should all be writing to congress? Why so much autisim, ADD, etc…? Think about it.
To stop shopping at wal mart is not the answer…. Merely not allowing the products to come thru to the us is the answer. Dont meet our standards, dont meet our children. And yes, play ball outside with your children, just make sure that ball, backyard toys have not been made in china, or have been recalled…..
one more post! If you shop on ebay or any of those other auctioning sites, they do sell recalled items. They are not monitered. I wrote to them and there is a section to go to so they say, but no one knows about it to find out if their item of purchase is being recalled. Items made in the early 1900’s thru now are being sold. Definitely many things have lead in them from back in the day. So spread the word. We can help save our children and others by making websites like ebay/amazon etc… enforce not selling items that have been recalled and if they are selling antiques, place a disclosure on them so children dont play with them. Some people buy antiques out of stupidity for their kids and dont think that there may be harmful chemicals on them. Send an e mail out to all your friends. The word will get out! I love ebay and amazon but i am very careful about what i buy on there. You all do the same, be safe and keep on the crusade for healthier toys.
Does anyone know anything about a product called “Balls in a Bowl? These were meade in China but they have a distinctive “stinky” odor when you open the package. We are trying to find out if they have been on the recal list as our ministry received several skids of these which were doanted for distribution.
That’s what this country gets for it’s greedy capitalism as big business sources out jobs to foreign countries just to make a buck. It’s sickening and our children are paying for it…so are we as families. Keep industry here in our country so it can be more closely monitored and regulated…it’ll also help to eradicate the nation’s growing unemployment problems.
we can’t put all the blame on china for all these recall. American business industry is profit greedy. This is the results of using outside resources to save a few big bucks. This is the result of trying to avoid rules and regulation, paying high taxes and income wages. Maybe this will start American business to think about making merchandises at home instead of looking for outside sources. It would be nice to purchase a product and read the small print saying MADE IN USA. maybe this would keep our children safe from harm.
OK, this is certainly NOT the first time, not even close! I DO fully believe as now a grandmother of seven that our children and grandchildren and past, present and future off spring have been or will be affected by these poisonous not only toys, food, pet foods, bath goods as in shampoos, and so on, then you have EVERYTHING else ever made in China, India, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, you name it! The greed and corporate AMERICA???? have long cared ONLY about their bottom lines….profits!!!! For how long now have we al been poisoned? By how many products and foods and so on and so on and so on…..How many years? How many children people and pets have been affected? For sooooo long, the media, the government entities could care less! It’s ALWAYS been about money and always will be! No honesty here, not for a VERY long time! No wonder we have so many with sooo many problems, autism, add and adhd? Serious brain function problems and GOD ONLY KNOWS what else?? Believe me, we’ve BEEN poisoned for a long time! FDA? Please! Better start growing our own and MAKING our own! We have GOT to start doing instead of just saying, like NOT buying if it says “Made in China” or Made in India! Or where else??
can anyone tell me if there has been a study on all the toys from China that come in happy meals, kids meals, etc. that are stuck in boxes and bags with our kids food?
I am originally from cuba ,a communist country .And YES!!! COMMUNIST CHINA DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR OWN CHILDREN, MUCH LESS YOURS OR MINE! THEY ARE ANIMALS!! Hear me out, COMUNISTS DO NOT VALUE HUMAN LIFE. It is not terrorism, it’s that they do not have moral standars. It bothers me that we are loading the pockets of the chinese government when they should not be trusted . Not only we are making our children half crazy and in some cases totally disfunctional with their staff ,but I gurantee you that china will buy nuclear weapons with that money and point them at our butt ,our total broke butt. Broke because the jobs in america are being outsourced, or worked by H1B visa worker who are not loyal to the american company but to their respective company at home. I fell in love with this country when I was a kid ,but the lack of patriotism caused by greed is really dissappointing.
An important point I want to make. It has been poit out already that american companies want to make a bigget profit and that is why all this is happening try. It is very true that union workers are expensive for them .Let’s be honest ,lots of benefits ,expensive health insurance, and it can be burdensome with all due respect to those workers who are really not making a fortune anyway ,but well thhat is what the companies complain about. I wonder why don’t the american companies try to make a compromise with the workers before htey dec ide and take the jobs away like that. what is that all about. I beleive that a union worker would be willingg to make a sacrifice and give up something if hee know he is going to be unemployed.
And if that is too naive ,why don’t theyy outsource those companies to us neighbouring poor countries that have proven to be loyal. I would prefer ot hear that they otsourced a toy factory to mexico. Maybe they can employ the very same people who are trying to cross the border .That will keep them in their country and help lowering the illegal inmigration rate. Besides that could employ american truckers too. why give all that money to evil china.? they cheat!, the chinese are cheaters and not to be trusted .Whenever get together with the russians I just want to crush all that says ‘made in china’. Walmart in putting us in danger in many ways, long term danger. I will not buy anything else made in china period. One dollar less that they get, one less child they poison, one communist dicatarorship that should not be getting that powerful.
If the US Gov knows about this lead poison come from China they would have stop it before it come in US so who is bring it in if the Gov is stoping? People should start looking what this is all about. Is the Gov doing it or someone elsa doing it? That is the question peolpe should be look at.
does the Barbie Princess Tough Trike have lead poisoning?
I think all these recalls are a big hoax. Somehting isn’t sitting right about all these recalls all of the sudden in 2008 by the “newly” formed CPSC. Now, they have passed a law requiring ALL businesses to have independent lead testing done, which in turn, is putting millions of small US businesses, out of business. Smells fishy to me.
I tried to purchase a Simpson’s Dr. Hibbert Island toy from The Dollar general. I was not buying it for a child but as a gift for an adult. It came up as a recalled toy and it could not be sold. When I looked on Ebay I found some being sold. Can recalled toys still be sold on Ebay or at resale stores? I do volunteer work to raise money and we get a lot of toy donations to sell to raise money. Do I need to familiarize myself with all the recalled toys and not sell them? I purchase toys for my grandchildren also. Can we send these items back to the companies that produced them if they are recalled and have them replaced or get a refund?
why are people still aloud to donate recalled items. In used stores some don’t know what’s being recalled. I think people shouldn’t be able to donate items either.
what do we do with all thease recalled toys were are they to be taken to back to the store or what
I dont think we should buy anymore toys from china because all it does is risks how childrens life and health.
If we do buy anything from china I feel everything should be checked thoroughly before bringing it to the united states.
Everyone say buy American but would you spend $10.00 dollars on an item made in America that you could get made in China for $5.00. No I don’t may people would we need to look in the mirror and realize that we do it everyday. We are a society of lazy welfare driven people that would do anything to save a buck. We worry so much about lead poison in our kids toys but, have no problem shoving unhealthy and fating fast food down there throats. Live well, long and do what ever the hell you want in life.
Does anyone know if there is Lead in the Brass Key Care Bears Tea Set (2005) ?
YOU as the consumer/buyer of all products have the infinite power to NOT BUY products made in China. They have proven over and over again how little regard they have for the safety of the products they make. It is your fault if you continue to support this poor/unsafe manufacturing of products.
I feel so bad about the kids who got lead poisoning!
i want to know if petshop have led my girl have alots of petshop can you tell me if it dose have led in the paint she likes that toy alot and i do not know what to do can you plases tell me thank you so much
thank to who it reads this note
Marie scheren
this is crazy first the tylonel is on recall and now the toys made in china are its dumb there for kids!!!!!OMG
In answer to some of the comments-
Reselling or donating recalled items is illigal, but sometimes the sellers/donators don’t know about the recalls.
You can test items for lead. There are kits at toys r us, Lowes, etc.
-Bethany Benoit 🙂
But their arent really much american made toys?
get over it buy american made toys
Support USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think you guys are forgetting a couple of things-
One, it isn’t necessarily China’s fault. Okay, so much of the blame lies there, but it also lies in the United States. We are known as the CONSUMER country. That is what we do: consume. There is a great movie that people should watch called The Story of Stuff. It explains many of the consumer problems of America, without being overly technical or boring.
Two, the driving force that makes the China/USA economic system work is greed. We were looking for cheap labor and cheap products, which sent us over to the Chinese, Japanese, and many others. Every shopper looks for the lowest price, which happens to be made in China. This is because:
Three, working conditions. Companies are SUPPOSED to watch over their workers, but what if it costs them extra money? Money that would usually go into the manager’s pocket. This isn’t just in China, it’s all over the world. America had the same problems years ago, and it was just hushed up.
Not that this applies to everybody in the US or China.
Hey guys… just keep in mind that toys are not the only main cause of lead poisoning. They just draw the most media attention. Lead accumulates in the human body from very early on, and toys simply add to it.
What is this other source? Food.
Yep, you heard it. Your children and yourselves are at risk because of the FOOD you eat. This is because of hunters who use lead bullets.
For those who don’t know, lead bullets explode on impact, sending tiny, sharp particles throughout the body. While most hunters pick up their bullet shrapnel, there are MILLIONS of tiny particles left that are impossible to see. A simple web search for x-rays of animals shot with lead bullets show how infested with lead they are. And those animals are sent TO BE EATEN by everyday people.
Now, you may think I am just going for vegetarianism. However, I enjoy my bacon like the rest of you- I just like to be sure it is lead free.
Also, you think, “Well, I don’t eat venison, or duck, so I must be safe.” WRONG! Animals such as USA’s symbol, the Bald Eagle, come upon the entrails and eat them- and the lead. When they die, the lead is washed away into grass.
The grass is then grazed on by cattle- the same cattle you eat.
The lead in cattle is inhaled by workers, or ingested by Joe Schmo on the street. The lead builds up and is amplified when you have lead paint or toys, until your body cannot fight it off anymore.
The way to stop it? Copper bullets. Copper bullets simply expand on impact, causing a less painful death and easy cleanup.
Please let people know of this problem, and be careful with what you eat or play with.
