The latest recalls of defective vehicles prove that the company is aware of the malfunctions and they are trying their best to correct it and prevent accidents that would cause much pain to families.
Manufacturers ought to conduct tests that would prove their product’s crash worthiness and good working condition before releasing it out to public who are at risk of being injured by it.
I have a new 2010 jeep commander. After hearing of this problem I contacted the dealer right away, they do not even want to talk about it, they claim they know nothing about it ! They said the news media is blowing it all out of proportion, I don’t believe them, but at this point have no recouarse of action, my new commander sits in the garage until I get answers.
Thats what you get when you let the government take over a car company…..Never knew a “government” worker that worked it’s full potential.
I have a “07” Chrysler Sebring purchased in Nov. “07” which after driving for over a year had a brake calliper which never work from day 1 out of the factory. I took my vehicle to a Dodge dealership after the first year for an inspection and passed with flying colors. After leaving the dealership I thought I heard “slight” noises coming from the passengers side front tire area. I’ve never been a “Ya gotta take it to the dealership” kinda guy due to high pricing and … well, theft I thought. You know, problems when you don’t really have problems ? ! ? I mean, it’s not like I don’t trust dealship mechanics or the work they do … Wait, I don’t trust them ! I took my vehicle to a shop I’ve been going to for all my vehicles (after warranty) for years. As soon as they looked the car over I was called to the same side I thought I heard the noise from and WHOA ! ! ! My rotor was goughed BIG time. After doing my brakes he told me the caliper had never engaged, not from day 1. Spoke with somwone from Chrysler and was told “someone else besides a Chrysler Dealership fixed it, there’s nothing we can do”. It’s o.k. though, I’ve had Dodge, Chrysler and plymouth products since “91” … I can’t wait to buy my FIRST foreign vehicle, a V.W Passat within 1 to 2 years. I’ve always bought American, it’s the way I was brought up … I just helped my oldest daughter buy her Passat and will tell my two other children to do the same. American car dealerships ? !, … C YA ! ! !
several times went to the dealer for a engine light ,they could not find thought is was in the air bagn on pasenger side they just told me to shut off my air bag. also kept telling them about the coverter they said it was ok finally had to get it done at private service station. your dealers suck. also took in for oil change and had to go back cause they didnt greese a single fitting. had a free oil change ,would rather go to walmart at least you know it will get done.bill
We own a 2006 Dodge Dakota with about 51,000 miles on it. So far, we have put 2 sets of ball joints and tie rods. This is very expensive. WHY???? The fact is that the 3 least expensive things to put in a car is oil, water and grease and you have taken away the grease totally. No grease fittings so a person can protect and care for their vehicle. We’ve been told some people put in too much grease. The fact remains that most service stations know better but they have to see it come out the breather hole first. Better a little bit of grease on the ground than people forced to replace so many expensive parts…………also the configuration and style of the hood and fenders hinders the vision tremendously……….in simple words you can’t see past the fenders. Try to navigate the cones in a construction site when you can’t see either cone or edge of fender. How’s that for a non-engineer. Just a little common sense goes a long way at times!
I was just driving my “old” 2000 sebring this afternoon when the brakes failed completely. Luckily, i was coming out of a parking lot and i used the hand brake. I can’t imagine what would have happened on a highway at 60 miles/hour???
i am going to call them on Tuesday…..
I have a 2009 Jeep Cherokee, It has 9000 miles, I bought it new, The brakes failed without warning! I was driving at a low speed at the time about 15 mph, I was unable to slow down at all, I stopped when I hit the car in front of me. I am very thankful it happened the way it did. There was no injury to myself, my children or anyone else. I had no ability to slow or stop and it was terrifying. It has been a few weeks, the jeep dealer checked the brakes and said the pads were fine, and they could not find anything wrong. When I found out about the recall, I was told my Jeep was not recalled. HMMM BUT MY BRAKES FAILED, On a new jeep in warranty?? It will not be driven again with defective brakes
My brakes failed on my 2007 Jeep Patriot when I was driving toward an active intersection. Thank God only that myself and my son and the other driver were not killed in the accident.
Towed the suv home, notified Chrysler, they sent someone out to pkup the suv to do an “inspection”. Their response is that there is “no manufacturer’s defect” after returning the car, which is clearly a lie because it did happen. The car is 2-3mo.s from being paid off. What on earth do I do now? I will never drive that car again and put my family and myself in danger.
I assumed they would do the right thing and they are not. I don’t know what to do. I am certainly not going to sell the car only to put someone else in danger. What do I do?
I meant 2008 not 2007 as posted above.
